Great fun, though). The 690 Duke is the best all-round bike for me, but it took time to appreciate its handling. For a while I felt the bars were too wide and the handling is very "chuckable". On most sports bikes, I plan ahead, but sometimes on the Duke I change lines just for laughs. Mine has been totally reliable.

Power comes courtesy of the same 799cc double over head cam parallel twin motor first introduced in the KTM 790 Duke in 2018 but with but a bit snatchy and has reliability issues. Ride quality KTM wholeheartedly believes in its “Ready to Race” mantra, explaining why the 790 Duke has trackworthy electronic rider aids and a throaty powerplant for $10,499. To extract the last bit of
The Super Duke R is built in Austria, not India like some of KTM’s models, however it is no secret that there have been a few issues with reliability and build quality in the larger-capacity
All first-year bikes have teething issues, but KTM forums blew up with angry customers experiencing basic and sometimes catastrophic failures with their 790 bikes. It became a PR nightmare, and they needed the bike gone. Now, it is back, emissions-compliant (strangely), and ready to open a new chapter, conveniently leaving the past behind.
Yes , but IT was a value for Money type of thing for me . The 790 Duke is going out of production so they get Discounts. Furthermore a Duke 790 has a quickshifter and all the electronics as Standard . And 105 HP is nice enough for me. Yes the 890 (No R) has 11 hp more but the value for Money isnt as high . IT Costs 2000 Euros more and then you
Gone are the days when going from A to B. The 2024 KTM 390 ADVENTURE rewrites the rulebook on what the daily commute needs to be. Merging all-road versatility and proven reliability with real-world performance, not to mention adventure-ready spoked wheels, a proven 373 cc powerplant, and a class-leading chassis, the KTM 390 ADVENTURE not only seeks out new adventures - it leaves no path

The KTM ergos are actually really good, they work both on active riding and relaxed cruising. Reliability: KTM have had their problems, but according to a recent long test report by the German mag Motorrad, they've all been addressed. Also the engine of their 790 was basically as new after 50kkm when they dismantled and inspected it.

For the price, the Duke offers a lot of positives: outstanding, extremely nimble handling; very good ABS brakes (once upgraded with quality brake pads); competent suspension; a lively motor with remarkable power for the size; excellent tires; racy good looks; and a plethora of aftermarket parts available for upgrades. Powering the 890 Duke R (aptly dubbed the “Super Scalpel”) is a new 889cc DOHC parallel-twin engine, based on the 790 powerplant. The engine gets an increased bore and stroke of 90.7 x 68.8mm
Same issue each time, here’s the scenario: Been riding approx 30 minutes, and as I’m shifting from 4-5 and blipping the throttle, the motor cuts off. Electrical still functioning. 1st breakdown resolution: replaced ECU. 2nd breakdown resolution: reset ECU. 3rd breakdown resolution: updated mapping, reset adaptation values, reset

I traded a problematic 790 in for a a 2021 890 Duke R. All of the issues that occured with the 790 appear to have been acknowledged and addressed with the 890. It is a superb machine and completely reliable so far.

But yeah, check bolts, don't overfill oil etc. Depending on the Duke model it might have the common seal problem behind the front sprocket - haven't seen this issue on a Duke 4 yet, if that's the bike you have. They're pretty bulletproof, these things. Wonky electrics have been bothering KTM earlier, and this is one of the first CANBUS systems
True. However the op is in the US it looks like. Factory warranty is one year. I was under the impression KTM doesn't do extended warranties in the US and they were only available from the aftermarket. Perhaps the dealership threw in an extra year, in which case its them rather than KTM that would be on the hook. I test drove the 790 and was impressed with how smooth the power delivery was, but was it TOO smooth? Not enough of a test drive to know, but I'm leaning heavily towards the 790 at this point, given the reported reliability issues with the 690. Would much rather save $5kUS and get the 690 but the 790 might be too nice, and the 690 too unreliable.

KTM’s first big motorcycle for India, the 790 Duke, is finally here; but it has been priced higher than most were hoping. Then again, this is a KTM, so game-changing price or not, the 790 Duke

790/890 Duke Rear Brake Cylinder push rod vs 890 Duke R. Turd Ferguson. Feb 1, 2023. 2. 1K. Jul 12, 2023. by Turd Ferguson.
KTM reliability issues aside, the Duke 790 is an extremely torque happy bike, and would be hard to learn proper throttle control, and clutch management on. One whiskey throttle or accidental clutch dump, and you're probably going down. It's not even like a 600cc supersport where "theoretically", you could stay low in the rpms so you don't have EOHbuG.
